Accessibility & Usability

The W3C describes Web accessibility as meaning .."that people with disabilities can use the Web. More specifically, Web accessibility means that people with disabilities can perceive, understand, navigate, and interact with the Web, and that they can contribute to the Web."

There are over 6.5 million people in the UK alone who suffer from some sort of disability which prohibits them from making standard use of a computer...

Think about that for a second...6.5 million! Over 10% of the UK. They have an estimated disposible income of over £130 billion. Studies show disbled customers are far more likely to visit an "accessible" site, as they are able to transact and interact with the site easily.

Web accessibility encompasses all disabilities that affect access to the Web, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.

There are evaluation tools that help with evaluation. However, no tool alone can determine if a site meets accessibility guidelines. Knowledgeable human evaluation is required to determine if a site is accessible.

We firmly believe in building fully accessibile websites, this comes as standard in all our designs to ensure your site is accessed by the maximum audience possible, giving you the edge over the competition.

A disabled person can make a claim against you if your website makes it impossible or unreasonably difficult to access information and services. If you have not made reasonable adjustments and cannot show that this failure is justified, then you may be liable under the Act, and may have to pay compensation and be ordered by a court to change your site.
